The usage of a client application that is not free software is necessary for the use of Skype. This means that the users do not have control over the programme; rather, the programme controls the users. Users of a nonfree application are denied their freedom, which is in and of itself an unfair practise. Skype has not disclosed whether or whether it is able to listen in on phone conversations. That almost probably indicates that it is capable of doing so.
