If you are able to hear yourself over the headset while speaking into the microphone, then the microphone itself is functioning fine; however, the settings on your console may not be adjusted for headset usage. PS4: Navigate to Settings > Devices > Audio Devices, then pick USB Headset from the menu that appears (Stealth 700).
