Wilson came up with the name "Lululemon" because he believes that Japanese people are unable to properly pronounce the letter "L." It was believed that having a L in the name would make it seem more natural to North American ears and provide the impression of genuineness to Japanese customers. The term "lululemon" is essentially made up and has no origins or significance other than the fact that it has three Ls.
