In Lebanon, the rate of marriage between first cousins varies according to religious affiliation, as it has been found to be 17 percent for Christians and 30 percent for Muslims over the course of the last century. Regardless of religious affiliation, however, the rate of marriage between first cousins is decreasing overall in Lebanon.
