So, this is the reason why it was taken away. According to Supercell, prior to implementing Global Chat, they did not have any particularly effective methods for recruiting, thus this was an ideal solution for them. Because of this, they were adamantly opposed to removing it. Sadly, there were a number of events on Global Chat that were quite inappropriate and disrespectful to a great degree.
