To differentiate itself from a cherry, the apple in the emblem for Apple Inc. has been given a bite cut out of it. Rob Janoff, the man who created the first version of the logo, claims that the bite is also meant to remind people of a universal, cross-cultural experience: the act of biting into an apple.
