A Tornado Watch is issued when severe thunderstorms and the possibility of tornadoes are present in and around the region covered by the watch. However, a Tornado Warning is a more hazardous alert than a Tornado Watch. According to the NWS, this just indicates that they are a possibility and does not imply that they will take place.
