A group of four, by extension, can be. When referring to persons and their activities, a quartet, foursome, or double date is used. When discussing geometry, building, or objects that occur in fours or are partitioned into fours, a tetrad, quadruple, quad-, quart- is used. If we're talking about 4-bits or half-bytes in computing, this is a smidgeon.
