What Country Is Ballet From?

The first records of ballet may be found in Italy around the year 1500. The Italian term ballare, which literally translates to "to dance," is whence we get words like "ballet" and "ball." Catherine de Medici, who was born in Italy and married Henry II of France, is credited with introducing the early dance forms that were popular at the French court.
