Is Jailbreaking An IPhone Illegal?

In most cases, breaking out of a jail is not in and of itself a crime. Even though "jailbreaking" a phone is not in and of itself an unlawful act, what you do with a phone that has been jailbroken may get you into trouble. It is against the law to use a device that has been jailbroken in order to access material that is illegally restricted or that has been pirated.
