You will need to change your birthday setting to Only Me if you do not want your friends to get birthday notifications from your account. There will be no change to the birthday notice that is sent out to your friends if you want to set your birth year to Only Me. Only when visitors visit the About page on your profile will the year of your birth be concealed from view.
